Chief Executive Donald Tsang visited a school in Wong Tai Sin today to familiarise himself with the integrated education for hearing-impaired students.

The Chun Tok School provides special education and services for hearing-impaired primary and secondary students. It combines activity-based teaching with guidance and discipline counselling.

Mr Tsang met a class of 30 hearing-impaired and able-bodied primary students and joined them in an English interactive quiz.

"I am glad to see a school promoting a caring culture in the belief that every child has the potential to succeed and none of the students should be neglected," he said.

He noted the children are helped to realise their full potential, building self-confidence for their future challenges in the community.

"We are glad to see that the caring study environment allows students with disabilities to enhance their interest in learning and grow into active children with great self-confidence," he added.

Mr Tsang also visited the studio of First Sense Design, the Hong Kong Federation of Handicapped Youth's first social enterprise that provides design, production and printing services for public and private sectors, promoting employment opportunities for the disabled.

He saw physically handicapped people learning to use computers, a move aimed at boosting their employment opportunities.
