Visitor ill with Dengue fever

*
Centre for Health Protection

The Centre for Health Protection has confirmed an imported Dengue fever case, involving a 39-year-old visitor who travelled to Vietnam during the incubation period. This brings the year's total cases to 31, all imported.

The man came down with fever, headache and joint pain on December 15. He was admitted to a private hospital and was discharged on December 21.

People should stay alert to the threat of Dengue fever and take precautions against mosquito breeding. Travellers should wear long-sleeved tops and trousers and use insect repellent. When rooms are not air-conditioned, use mosquito screens or nets.

People who feel unwell after returning from their trip should seek medical advice as soon as possible and provide travel details to their doctor.
