Heat stroke warning issued

*
Department of Health

The Department of Health warns people, particularly those engaged in outdoor work or activities, to take precautions against heat stroke in view of recent high temperatures.

The Hong Kong Observatory has issued a very hot weather warning and expects it to remain in effect tomorrow. The temperature for Monday and Tuesday is forecast to move between 28 and 33 degrees Celsius.

Assistant Director of Health Dr Regina Ching said people should drink enough water to avoid dehydration while working outdoors.

They should avoid drinks containing excessive caffeine - such as coffee and tea - or alcohol.

Dr Ching also urged people to pay more attention to people who are more vulnerable to heat-related illnesses, including children, the elderly, the sick and obese people, and provide them with advice and care.
