The Centre for Health Protection is investigating a suspected food poisoning outbreak involving 33 residents and five staff at a Kwai Chung elderly home.
The 10 men and 28 women, aged 43 to 101, developed gastrointestinal symptoms, including diarrhoea and abdominal pain, from noon yesterday to about 8am today.
The symptoms were generally mild. None of those affected required hospitalisation. Initial investigations showed that the symptoms were compatible with bacterial food poisoning. Further investigations are in progress.
