Secretary for Housing, Planning & Lands Michael Suen has criticised protesters' actions as "unacceptable" after his car was surrounded for two hours today, preventing him from attending a forum at the Kowloon Technical School.
The forum is the first of the four to be held to gauge the community's views on the Review of Domestic Rent Policy Consultation Paper released on March 9.
Representatives of the Defend the Rights of Housing for Basic Level Joint Association yesterday encircled Mr Suen's car outside the forum and insisted he receive the petition letter himself.
"We have specially invited this particular group to join us at this meeting. But instead of coming to the meeting to present us with their views, they have chosen to prevent us from getting into the venue. I think that is totally unacceptable," he said. "Hong Kong is a society governed by law. We respect the public's right to express their views, but hope that they can express their views in a rational and peaceful manner."
