Shop in breach of rest-day conditions
*
Food & Environmental Hygiene Department

The Food & Environmental Hygiene Department is considering cancelling the licence of a fresh provision shop at 27 Mercury Street, North Point, which was found keeping live poultry on a rest day today.

The shop surrendered 41 live birds, including chickens and pigeons, for disposal.

According to the licensing conditions and tenancy of live poultry outlets, no live poultry can be kept or stored at the premises on a rest day. Fresh provision shops and stalls must also suspend business to carry out thorough cleaning and disinfection.

The department warns failure to comply with rest-day conditions could lead to immediate cancellation of fresh provision shop licences or termination of market stall tenancies.
