Park music zones under study

*
Leisure & Cultural Services Department

Special "singing zones" may be formed in Tuen Mun Park to curb noise problems, the Leisure & Cultural Services Department says.

It met with Tuen Mun district councillors and seven singing groups today to discuss recent noise complaints at the park. They agreed to study the possibility of having park zones for registered singing activities, sans amplification.

Assistant Director of Leisure & Cultural Services Eddy Yau said: "In view of some users' demand for free entertainment in the park, the department will co-operate with the District Council to follow up on today's proposal and arrange a host of other public entertainment programmes which will not cause noise annoyance, such as mime, recitation, story-telling and acoustic music, like folk song, performances."

Park management will monitor the situation closely. Programmes will be staged at the park's multi-functioned court from 2pm to 5pm Sunday.
