Three more hygiene-related misdeeds will be added to the Marking Scheme for Tenancy Enforcement.
The Housing Authority's Subsidised Housing Committee today endorsed the new measures to enhance the scheme's effectiveness. They take effect January 1.
The three additional misdeeds are:
* smoking or carrying a lighted cigarette in a public lift (five points);
* illegal hawking of cooked food (seven points); and,
* throwing objects from a height that may cause danger or personal injury (15 points).
People throwing objects from a height that jeopardise environmental hygiene will still be allotted seven points.
Tenancy termination
The Housing Department will consider terminating the tenancy immediately if a thrown object causes casualties.
Evicted tenants will be barred from applying for public rental housing through the General Waiting List for two years. They will not be offered a flat of better quality.
To encourage community involvement, an incentive award scheme will be introduced and the top three most hygienic public housing estates will be publicised in Estate Newsletters and souvenirs will be given on monthly basis.
An annual trophy will be awarded to the Mutual Aid Committee of the cleanest block of every housing estate.
