The Centre for Health Protection has confirmed a 20-year-old woman has Dengue fever, bringing the year's total to 24, all imported.
The woman came down with fever, headache, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea on October 29. She was admitted to hospital on November 2, the day she returned to Hong Kong after a trip to Vietnam and the Mainland. She was discharged on November 7 and the centre is tracing her home contacts.
People should stay alert to the threat of Dengue fever and take measures against mosquito breeding. Travellers should wear long-sleeved tops and trousers, use insect repellent and mosquito screens or nets when rooms are not air-conditioned.
If feeling unwell after returning from abroad, travellers should consult a doctor as soon as possible and provide details of their travel to the doctor.
