Senior hospital staff incentive award abolished
*
Hospital Authority

The Hospital Authority Board has agreed to abolish the annual incentive award scheme and to move to a "broad band" remuneration system for senior executives.

The scheme has applied to the authority's chief executive, cluster chief executives and hospital chief executives for several years.

The board's decision was made at its administrative and operational meeting today, after it heard a presentation on a consultancy review on the remuneration packages of senior executives.

The board said any changes to individual remuneration will be at the time of contract renewal and subject to performance as determined by an independent panel whilst having regard to market practice and affordability.

On the remuneration of the chief executive now being recruited, the board agreed in principle to use the current remuneration package as a starting point, but the final recommendation will depend on the skills, knowledge and experience of the successful candidate.
