Leisure & Cultural Services Department

Some parks and beaches will extend opening hours during Mid-Autumn Festival. The Leisure & Cultural Services Department warned littering or burning wax will not be tolerated.

About 1,000 department officers will be deployed to step up patrols of its venues from September 17 to 19 and take enforcement action against offenders. Litterbugs will be issued $1,500 fixed-penalty tickets. Wax offenders face a $2,000 fine and 14 days jail.

People should place metal cans or non-flammable containers under lit candles to collect melted wax for easy disposal into litter bins.

Wax-burning cases can be reported on 2414 5555. For details of the special opening arrangements click here.
