Safe sex campaign launches
*
Department of Health

The Department of Health has launched a safe sex campaign to promote the use of condoms.

Sexual transmission is the most common route of HIV infection in Hong Kong, making up 78% of reported cases in the second quarter of 2005.

A University of Hong Kong study found only 24% of Hong Kong's Chinese population consistently used condoms.

TV promotion

The campaign will run from September and cover World AIDS Day on December 1.

A new television announcement has been produced to encourage people to protect themselves and their sex partners by using condoms.

Radio announcements and programmes, and advertisements and banners on websites, public transport and outside Government buildings, will also be launched from today.

A condom distribution network will be established, and a sex education forum for teachers and social workers will be organised. For details click here.
