Window maintenance seminars to be held

*
Buildings Department

Seminars on proper use and maintenance of aluminium windows will be held in 18 districts, Director of Buildings Marco Wu says.

Mr Wu and representatives from the Housing, Planning & Lands Bureau, Housing Society and Home Affairs Department discussed measures to strengthen the dissemination of safety information today.

The workshops will launch in Yuen Long tomorrow, while publicity flyers will be ready next week. Exchanges with property management companies will be held on July 6 or 7.

Mr Wu said the department's hotline 2626 1616 will operate around-the-clock, and letters will be sent to 1.3 million households this weekend reminding them to pay attention to their windows.

The Housing Society will offer free window inspections through its hotline 3188 1188, which received 100 enquiries today.

The bureau will explore the need to include windows as part of the proposed compulsory building inspection scheme.
