Another 'wrong drug'-related death probed
*
Department of Health

The Coroner will investigate the death of another patient who received the wrong medicine from a general practitioner in Wong Tai Sin, the Department of Health says.

The 69-year-old woman was prescribed a drug labelled "simethicone" on January 31. She died in Our Lady of Maryknoll Hospital on March 13.

Investigations have found one more patient had been prescribed the drug after January 3, bringing the total number of patients to 152.

The department has successfully contacted 130 patients. Letters have been delivered to the homes of 20 patients who could not be contacted by phone or at home. Two patients could not be reached because their addresses and telephone numbers kept at the clinic were not up to date.

The special hotline, 2575 1221, set up by the department has received 153 calls since May 27.
