A 10-episode television drama series to boost public understanding of Hong Kong's disease prevention and control and raise awareness of communicable diseases and their risks will be shown on TVB Jade every Tuesday from May 17 to July 19 at 7pm.
The drama series, titled "Medical Detective", is jointly produced by the Centre for Health Protection and RTHK. It covers such topics as avian influenza, Japanese encephalitis, Dengue fever, leptospirosis, plague and food poisoning.
Based on real-life local cases, which are reconstructed and developed into several independent stories, the series will show how the center combats contagious diseases through real-time surveillance, rapid infection control and responsive risk communication.
Speaking at the launching ceremony of "Medical Detective", the centre's Controller Dr Leung Pak-yin said he hopes people will learn more about disease prevention and control through the TV drama series
"We also hope to raise their awareness of communicable diseases and their risks," he added.
