Bloodworms found in swimming pool

Leisure & Cultural Services Department

Bloodworms have been found in Shum Shui Po Park Swimming Pool. The Leisure & Cultural Services Department confirmed today that 90 worms were found in the park's main, secondary and training pools.

A swimmer reported seeing worms at 8.30am in the secondary pool. Staff cleaned the facilities and sent the worms away for inspection.

Tests found the water meets hygiene standards and the filtration is operating normally. The pools will remain open as usual.

The worms will be studied to see whether they have appeared due to recent seasonal changes, heavy rains or other factors.
