600 cadets visit Zhongshan
*

Some 600 Civil Aid Service Cadet Corps members, aged 12 to 17, are partaking in Zhongshan Visit 2005 in four groups during four weekends in April and May.

The corps have jointly organised the programme with the Hong Kong-Guangdong Youth Exchange Promotion Association and the Zhongshan City United Youth Association.

The programme gives participants a deeper understanding of the Mainland and the importance of civic education.

During each of the two-day visits on April 16 and 23, some 150 cadets stayed in the Zhongshan High School dormitory to see local student life. Apart from having educational and cultural interflow with local youths, they also participated in community service with youth volunteers.

The programme included a visit to the Sun Yat-sen Museum and a social gathering organised by a local youth group.

Two more visits will be organised for 300 cadets on the weekends of May 21 and 28.
