The Centre for Health Protection has received a report from Guangdong health officials concerning an influenza outbreak involving 12 students and a teacher from a Hong Kong secondary school.
They were among a group of 280 from the school participating in the study visit to Zhaoqing from March 7 to 11.
They developed fever and mild respiratory symptoms and were taken to a hospital in Guangzhou on March 10. All were discharged today.
Preliminary examination showed that influenza A was the cause of the outbreak. The clinical symptoms were mild and there was no history of poultry exposure.
