4 tonnes of litter collected after fireworks display

A total of 4.1 tonnes of rubbish were collected at the Cultural Centre, Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade, the Avenue of Stars and Centenary Garden after the Lunar New Year Fireworks Display tonight, the Leisure & Cultural Services Department says.

 

The department said from 6pm to 9pm, 1.2 tonnes of refuse was picked up at the Cultural Centre, while 2.9 tonnes was collected at the Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade, the Avenue of Stars and UC Centenary Garden.

 

Meanwhile, 68 verbal warnings were given for littering.

 

The department deployed additional workers to its venues to promptly clean up the rubbish and there were 50 volunteers to help spread the message to take care of the environment.
