Three members have been appointed to an independent advisory group that will advise on the design of the questionnaire for the bureau's telephone survey on public attitudes towards homosexuals.
The members are solicitor Christopher Chan, Chinese University Professor Fanny Cheung and City University's Dr Priscilla Leung.
The group will hold its first meeting soon, the Home Affairs Bureau says, with the telephone survey conducted in the second quarter of the year.
The bureau has commissioned MVA Hong Kong to conduct the survey, which will have a sample size of 2,000. It will target people aged 18 to 64.
Concern groups consulted
It will consult various concern groups on the overall design and structure of the questionnaire.
To ensure fairness and impartiality, the advisory group will advise on the questionnaire design before finalising it for data collection.
The survey on attitudes towards homosexuals will assess public awareness of different sexual orientations, acceptance of homosexuals, and attitudes towards homosexuals and their rights; and find out what can be done to address the problem of discrimination faced by homosexuals.
