$160m lotteries fund for welfare projects

Social Welfare Department

The Lotteries Fund allocated $160,555,800 to finance social welfare service programmes from October to December last year, the Social Welfare Department says.

 

Of that total:

* $81,019,200 went to youth services;

* $41,801,600 to social welfare support services;

* $21,801,600 to elderly and medical social services;

* $11,644,600 to family and child welfare;

* $3,948,400 to rehabilitation services;

* $301,100 to offender services; and

* $39,300 to community development.

 

The fund was established to finance, by way of grants, loans or advances, the operation or development of social welfare services and medical or educational projects with a welfare content.
