The Central Police Station Open Days have attracted more than 5,700 visitors over the last three weekends.
Commissioner for Tourism Eva Cheng said today about 1,000 feedback forms have been received and the Government will continue collecting public views on the Central Police Station Project until the end of May.
"Thereafter we will carefully examine the views received and consider the way ahead," she said.
The open days are to allow more people to understand the history of the compound and the current conditions of the site, and to gauge their views on its future use.
Workshop held
A public workshop was held yesterday at the former Central Magistracy, with 100 participants from the public, interested parties and professional bodies discussing future usage of the site and matters to be considered in taking the project forward.
Ms Cheng said the Government does not yet have a firm timetable for tendering.
"On the question of whether the development should be non-profit-making or commercial in nature, the Government is open-minded. The most important issue is the quality of the proposals," she said.
Virtual tours of the station are available here. Views can be sent to tcenq@edlb.gov.hk, faxed to 2801 4458 or mailed to 2/F, East Wing, Central Government Offices, Lower Albert Road, Hong Kong.
