Ten people, including Dr David Ho and popstar Miriam Yeung, have been named the most inspiring people in Hong Kong's AIDS epidemic. Their stories, over 100 posters and hundreds of news articles on AIDS are being showcased at the 0.2-20 Years of AIDS in Hong Kong exhibition.
In support of World AIDS Day today, a ceremony to launch the exhibition was held at Central Library.
The 0.2- Most Inspiring People in Hong Kong AIDS Epidemic Poll was organised by the Red Ribbon Centre between September and November to promote public awareness towards AIDS and giving support to AIDS patients. Selection criteria included how inspiring the people were and how well their stories could raise awareness and promote acceptance in society.
The poll was divided into two phases - the nomination phase and the polling phase. A vetting panel selected 10 most inspiring people from about 70 nominations submitted by individuals and organisations during the nomination phase.

The first HIV case was reported in Hong Kong 20 years ago. Over the years, people have gained a better understanding of the disease and have witnessed changes in areas of HIV research, treatment and care, acceptance level and the quality of life of people with HIV.
The centre hoped community awareness can be raised through the exhibiton. It will be held until tomorrow, and will then move to the Cultural Centre, City Hall, and the Tuen Mun, Tsuen Wan and Sha Tin City Halls. For more details, click here.
