Baby boy confirmed to have enterovirus-71 infection
*

The Centre for Health Protection has confirmed an enterovirus-71 case involving a nine-month-old boy, bringing this year's total cases to 15.

He developed fever, rash, oral ulcer and vesicles on limbs on June 6 and has since recovered without hospitalisation. Those in contact with him at home are asymptomatic.

Sixteen youngsters (including this case, aged between nine and 32 months) of a Tsuen Wan childcare centre have come down with hand, foot and mouth disease from June 6 to 17.

Most of them have recovered and none developed complications or required hospitalisation.

The centre called on people to take precautions against infection and maintain good personal and environmental hygiene.

For more advice on disease prevention, click here or call the central health education hotline 2833 0111.
