Another enterovirus-71 case confirmed
*
HPC logo (Eng version)

The Centre for Health Protection has confirmed an enterovirus-71 case involving a seven-year-old boy, bringing this year's total cases to 14.

He developed hand rashes and an oral ulcer on June 7 and has since recovered without hospitalisation. Those in contact with him at home are asymptomatic. However, his primary school recorded 10 hand-foot-mouth disease cases (including this one) from June 2 to 7.

The centre called on people to take precautions against infection and maintain good personal and environmental hygiene.

For more advice on disease prevention, click here or call the central health education hotline 2833 0111.
