New gastroenteritis case reported
*
Department of Health

The Department of Health is investigating another gastroenteritis outbreak at the HK Society for the Protection of Children's Portland Street Day Creche.

Ten children and one staff member have gastroenteritis symptoms and confirmation test results are pending.

The department immediately launched the investigation and put the institution under medical surveillance. It was instructed to adopt preventive measures and conduct thorough disinfection.

The department's 2961 8966 hotline has received 349 requests for information on the disease and preventive measures.

The department stressed the importance of personal, food and environmental hygiene in preventing gastroenteritis outbreaks in institutional settings.

Meanwhile, the Salvation Army Lai Chi Kok Nursery has been removed from the infection list as it completed the disease surveillance period.
