Operators of 18 wholesale seafood stalls on the Aberdeen promenade will soon be issued permits to sell live produce.
Food & Environmental Hygiene Department officers inspected the stalls today, and found they fulfilled permit requirements, which include installation of filtering and disinfecting facilities for water tanks, securing tap water supplies for cleaning, and removal of any pipes or devices drawing seawater from the Aberdeen typhoon shelter.
Officers have given technical advice to the wholesalers on setting up filtration and disinfection systems so that they can obtain the permit sooner.
The department also lifted the closure order against Fat Woman Seafood. The promenade stall was closed on November 5 after vibrio cholerae was found in water samples taken from its tanks.
Thorough cleansing and disinfection was conducted during the closure period and the stall now complies fully with permit requirements.
