Chemical control laws to be tabled
*
Environmental Protection Department

The Hazardous Chemicals Control (General) and (Fees) Regulations will be tabled at the Legislative Council October 10, intended for implementation next year.

The Hazardous Chemicals Control Ordinance (19 of 2007), gazetted July 20, provides for the regulation of the import, export, manufacture and use of non-pesticide hazardous chemicals through an activity-based permit system.

The general and fees regulations, to be gazetted October 5, seek to facilitate the implementation of the activity-based permit system under the ordinance.

The general regulation provides mainly for the application of permits under the ordinance, while the fees regulation provides for the fees payable in respect of these applications.
