Water improves at 6 beaches
*
Environmental Protection Department

The Environmental Protection Department has upgraded six beaches from "fair" to "good" in its latest water quality grading.

They are Cafeteria New, Cafeteria Old, Castle Peak, Cheung Chau Tung Wan, Golden and Ma Wan Tung Wan Beaches. The changes are generally within the normal range of fluctuation of the beaches' bacteriological water quality.

Thirty beaches have been graded "good", with only three - Butterfly, Silverstrand and Kadoorie - graded as "fair".

Seven beaches - Anglers', Approach, Ting Kau, Casam, Gemini, Hoi Mei Wan and Lido - are closed to swimmers year round because of poor water quality. People should not swim at these beaches.

Click here for beach grades or call the beach hotline 2511 6666.
