January saw 8,807 sale and purchase agreements for all types of building units received for registration. The Land Registry said this was a rise of 2.7% on December and a 50.4% rise on January last year.

 

Using a 12-month moving average, the figure for January rose 3% on December but fell 14.6% on January last year.

 

The total consideration of these agreements in the month was $27.2 billion, down 4.4% on December but up 89.1% over a year earlier.

 

Of the 8,807 sale and purchase agreements, 7,485 were for residential units, up 3.2% on December and up 52.8% on January last year.

 

The total consideration of these agreements in the month was $21.4 billion, down 4.6% on December, but up 81.5% compared with the same period last year.
