Experts to probe fatal industrial accident
*

A six-member panel will investigate the fatal industrial accident at the International Commerce Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui, Secretary for Labour & Welfare Matthew Cheung says.

Mr Cheung today said the group, comprising occupational safety officers and engineers, will submit a report to the Coroner who will decide whether there should be a hearing. The investigation is expected to be completed in six months.

The Government will continue to render assistance to the affected families, he said, adding inspections at construction sites with similar lift shafts will be stepped up.

It will also work to enhance the safety awareness of developers, contractors and workers.
