Leong Che-hung named HKU chairman
*

Dr Leong Che-hung has been appointed University of Hong Kong Council Chairman for three years from November 7.

Secretary for Education Michael Suen said Dr Leong is a respected leader with extensive experience in public service.

"I trust HKU will go from strength to strength with Dr Leong at its helm," Mr Suen said.

Paying tribute to outgoing chairman Dr Victor Fung, the secretary said the university has made great strides on all fronts under Dr Fung's leadership.

"It has enhanced its excellence in teaching, extended the bounds of scholarship, deepened internationalisation and launched an ambitious campus development plan. The title of 'No.1 in Asia' does not come by coincidence and is indeed the best reward for Dr Fung's work," Mr Suen said.
