Labour Department

The revised Code of Practice for Bamboo Scaffolding Safety was gazetted today covering mainly the definition of "trained workman" for bamboo scaffolding work.

The revised code now recognises scaffolders who have satisfactorily passed the intermediate trade test for bamboo scaffolders of the Construction Industry Council Training Academy and possess at least one year's experience in the field as "trained workmen".

Those who are registered skilled, semi-skilled, skilled (provisional) or semi-skilled (provisional) workers under the Construction Workers Registration Ordinance for the trade of bamboo scaffolder are also recognised as "trained workmen".

The revised code can be obtained free of charge from the Labour Department's Occupational Safety & Health Branch offices. Call 2559 2297 for enquiries.
