Orderly fashion: Visitors flock to witness a test run at the Hong Kong Pavilion at World Expo 2010 Shanghai China.

Visitors to World Expo 2010 Shanghai China have been impressed with the Hong Kong Pavilion and Hong Kong's Urban Best Practices Area exhibition during test runs conducted today and yesterday.

The two exhibitions attracted more than 13,000 visitors, exceeding the Government's original estimates. Visitor queues were orderly today outside the pavilion, and most guests could enter after an average wait of 15 minutes.

Visitors generally said the exhibits were appealing, and were happy with the guidance and services provided by pavilion assistants and the general arrangements which showed the city's characteristics of 'showing grandeur while being compact'.

They were impressed by the 3D movie on the ground floor, the interactive exhibit in the atrium, the interactive game 'Hong Kong Vision' in the mid-level, and the green environment on the rooftop. They gained a better understanding of Hong Kong's connectivity with the world, its diversity, free flow of information and proximity to nature.

Visitors were delighted to receive an environmentally friendly carry bag as a souvenir, with many of them using it immediately after the pavilion visit.

For the urban best practices area exhibition on the Puxi side of the Expo Park, visitors were fascinated by the visual effects of the 360-degree circular screen and large, vertical LED screens. They were interested to learn about the many different applications of smart card and Radio Frequency Identification technology via interactive virtual hosts.

Hong Kong's Expo Affairs Office Commissioner Patrick Chan said he is satisfied with the test-run outcome, adding operations will be fine-tuned in light of the experience gained to prepare for the expo's grand opening on May 1.

The test run will be suspended for one day tomorrow, and will resume on April 23 for three more days.
