Dinosaur fossils to be donated to HK
*

Secretary for Home Affairs Tsang Tak-sing will travel to Yunnan to receive a set of dinosaur fossils on behalf of Hong Kong from provincial authorities.

The fossil of a dinosaur species from the Lufeng Series, 7.7 metres long and 2.2 metres high, is believed to be of a herbivorous dinosaur that existed 200 million years ago during the Jurassic period.

This is the first time a dinosaur fossil is being given to a jurisdiction outside the Mainland. Hong Kong plans to exhibit it at the Science Museum.

Yunnan Governor Qin Guangrong will present the gift at a ceremony June 22 at the Lufeng World Dinosaur Valley in Chuxiong Zhou.

Mr Tsang will then head to Beijing to officiate at the opening ceremony of the Beijing - 2008 Olympic Cultural Activities and Hong Kong & Macau Arts Festival and 2008 Hong Kong & Macau Visual Arts Exhibition at the China Millennium Monument in Beijing on June 23.
