John Tsang meets Malaysian finance officials

KL conference: Malaysia's Minister of Finance II Senator Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop greets Financial Secretary John Tsang in Kuala Lumpur.

Financial Secretary John Tsang has met Malaysian officials to discuss fiscal ties between their two jurisdictions.

 

Mr Tsang today stopped in Kuala Lumpur after attending the 14th Finance Ministers' Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation in Australia.

 

He met with Malaysia's Minister of Finance II Senator Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop and Deputy Finance Minister Dato' Dr Ng Yen Yen. He also met HSBC Bank Malaysia Berhad Chief Executive Officer Irene Dorner to learn the banking sector's latest developments, including the subject of Islamic finance.

 

Mr Tsang then exchanged views with heads of major banks and financial investment entities on global and regional financial development at a luncheon.

 

He also visited Khazanah Nasional Berhad, investment holding arm of the Government of Malaysia; Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad; and Bank Negara Malaysia, the country's central bank.

 

Mr Tsang returns to Hong Kong tomorrow.
