Report on RTHK welcomed
*

Secretary for Commerce, Industry & Technology Joseph Wong has welcomed the Public Accounts Committee's report on Radio Television Hong Kong's non-compliance with Government regulations.

Speaking after attending the Legislative Council meeting today, Mr Wong said the Government will follow up on the report's recommendations.

Noting RTHK's Internal Audit Team has been operating smoothly, Mr Wong said it will help the broadcaster make improvements and avoid further breaches of Government regulations.

RTHK will give him a report explaining the circumstances leading to the breaches of rules in specific cases and advise him whether any staff will be held responsible, and whether disciplinary proceedings should be undertaken.

"The report is due before the end of this month. I and my colleagues will examine it carefully and take necessary action to follow up."

Mr Wong hoped the irregularities will be corrected as a result of the recent audit report and the committee's recommendations.
