Pilot survey to test by-census arrangements
*
Census & Statistics Department

The Census & Statistics Department will conduct a Pilot Survey from July 15 to August 16 in preparation for next summer's Population By-census.

About 3,600 quarters have been selected to test the by-census questionnaire design and operational arrangements.

The department will send letters to sampled households for the Pilot Survey, informing them of their selection for the survey and the names of the Census Officers who will visit.

The population by-census in 2006 will be conducted as a mandatory statistical enquiry under the Census & Statistics Ordinance (Chapter 316). However, the Pilot Survey is conducted as a voluntary statistical survey under Part IIIA of the Census & Statistics Ordinance (Chapter 316).

In accordance with the Ordinance, all information collected from the survey pertaining to individual people or households will be treated in strict confidence and will not be released. All questionnaires will be destroyed within a year. For more information call 3582 3800.
