The two-week nomination period for by-elections in the Fort Street Constituency of Eastern District Council and Nam Cheong Central Constituency of the Sham Shui Po District Council will run from January 13 to 26.
The by-elections have been called to fill the offices left vacant by Eastern District Council member Choi Sai-chuen and Sham Shui Po District Council member Tai Yuen-ming.
A poll will be held on March 6 if there is more than one candidate.
Any registered geographical constituency electors aged 21 and above who have lived in Hong Kong for the three years immediately before the nomination may be nominated.
A nominee must have his nomination form signed by at least 10 registered electors of the constituency concerned, while an elector is allowed to sign only one nomination.
Avoid mistakes, submit nomination forms early
The completed nomination form, together with an election deposit of $3,000, must be personally submitted by the nominee to the returning officer concerned during business hours within the nomination period.
All prospective candidates are advised to submit their nominations as soon as possible so that any mistakes can be rectified before the deadline.
