Mong Kok streets reopen

Police have reopened roads in Mong Kok after removing illegal barriers blocking traffic lanes, and set up a designated public activity area on Nathan Road for protesters to continue expressing their views.

 

The operation started at about 5.20am today.

 

Police said it was not a clearance operation and people still have sufficient space to express their views. 

 

Police appealed to people still occupying a southbound section of Nathan Road between Argyle Street and Shantung Street to leave as soon as possible and to make use of the designated public activity area so traffic can fully resume.

 

To ensure public safety and order, Police said it will continue to clear barriers in traffic lanes in various districts.

 

It advised protestors to follow Police instructions and not to obstruct their operations.

 

It urged protesters to remove road barriers as soon as possible and leave peacefully.
