No confirmed case of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome has been identified in Hong Kong so far, the Centre for Health Protection says.
From noon yesterday to noon today, the centre recorded 46 suspected cases, and 45 tested negative for the MERS virus in preliminary testing, while the result for the remaining case is pending.
The centre said the Government is concerned about the rumours spreading on MERS and urged the public to ignore unfounded claims, but remain vigilant in maintaining good personal and environmental hygiene.
Travellers returning from MERS-affected countries or areas who have a fever or respiratory symptoms should wear face masks, seek medical attention and reveal their travel history to doctors, it added.
