CS: Gov't listens to views
January 25, 2014
More than 800 views have been submitted on population policy so far, and the Government will continue to listen to feedback during the consultation period, Chief Secretary Carrie Lam says.
Attending the final population policy public forum in Yau Tong today, Mrs Lam said the newly announced Policy Address has proposed population policy-related initiatives, such as after-school child care to support working women, and supporting employment of ethnic minorities and people with disabilities.
The Chief Executive has also announced measures to increase access to subsidised higher education, and to provide internship programmes for young people, she said.
Speaking to the reporters after the forum, Mrs Lam noted that there were diverse opinions heard, and said she hopes discussions can be held in a rational and peaceful manner, so that people can listen carefully to all views being expressed.
