Man tests negative for novel coronavirus

Preliminary laboratory test results for a 31-year-old man and his wife were negative for novel coronavirus associated with Severe Respiratory Disease, the Department of Health says. The man tested positive for seasonal influenza A.
The man, with good past health, fell ill on March 3 and developed a fever and headache since March 9. He was admitted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital's isolation ward. His condition is stable.
He had travelled to Saudi Arabia from March 4 to 7.
His wife with no recent travel history fell ill on March 8. She is also isolated in hospital as a precautionary measure.
No human novel coronavirus infection has been identified in Hong Kong so far.
The Government will be as transparent as possible in the dissemination of information on cases of severe respiratory disease associated with novel coronavirus.
