Fatal overseas coronavirus case probed
March 07, 2013
A new fatal novel coronavirus case in Saudi Arabia is under study, the Department of Health says.
A 69-year-old man was hospitalised in that country on February 10 and died on February 19. He had no contact with previously reported cases and no recent travel history.
To date, there have been 14 confirmed cases and eight deaths from novel coronavirus. Seven cases and five deaths were in Saudi Arabia.
The Centre for Health Protection will seek more information on this case and continue to work closely with the World Health Organisation and other overseas health authorities to monitor the situation.
No cases have been identified in Hong Kong.
