Financial Secretary John Tsang says the Government will help the catering, retail, hotel and transport industries which have been affected by the Occupy Central protests.
Mr Tsang made the pledge today before departing for the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation Financial Ministers’ Meeting in Beijing.
He said the launch of the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect is well-prepared and has not been affected by Occupy Central.
He noted that local financial markets have operated normally since the protests began.
However, as the protest in Mong Kok is becoming more radical, he urged students to leave the area as soon as possible.
