Chief Executive Carrie Lam said she will reflect Hong Kong people’s concerns about the co-location arrangement of the Hong Kong Section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link to the Central Government.
Speaking to the media before departing for Beijing today, Mrs Lam said she expects the co-location issue to be discussed during her visit to the Hong Kong & Macao Affairs Office.
She said if Hong Kong people have concerns about the plan, she is willing to convey their views to the Central Government and make necessary arrangements, provided there is no contravention of the co-location plan.
She reiterated there is no way to overhaul the co-location arrangement, which has a solid legal foundation and was formulated after thorough study.
Mrs Lam pledged the Government will spare no effort to explain the plan to the public, and will provide information that legislators need to supplement their discussions.
She called on lawmakers to get a better understanding of the XRL project and the co-location arrangement.
On her Beijing visit, Mrs Lam said she will discuss with Mainland authorities ways to enhance Hong Kong’s role in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area development and the Belt & Road Initiative.
