Secretary for Justice Rimsky Yuen has appealed to the public to discuss the co-location arrangement for the Hong Kong Section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link in a rational manner.
Speaking to the media after attending a radio programme today, Mr Yuen said he hopes people will not over-politicise the transport or legal issues involved in the plan, as it is not conducive to social harmony.
He said the clearance procedures for the link's passengers is an important issue that needs to be handled, adding there are people who wish to use the high-speed rail’s convenient services as soon as possible.
While acknowledging the co-location proposal also involves public confidence and political issues, Mr Yuen said the best way to tackle legal issues is through established channels within Hong Kong’s law system.
He reiterated there is no plan to seek an interpretation on the arrangement from the National People’s Congress Standing Committee.
