Chief Executive CY Leung has called on the Legislative Council President to tackle the legislator oath-taking issue properly and as soon as possible.
Speaking ahead of today's Executive Council meeting, Mr Leung said legislators must take the oath solemnly and any wordings used to insult the country are unacceptable.
He said Hong Kong society and LegCo must address the issue, or it will affect the way the Central Government views Hong Kong and the relationship between people in Hong Kong and the Mainland.
He said he hopes Hong Kong itself, especially the LegCo President, handles the issue properly.
On the judicial review application he submitted, Mr Leung said he acted in accordance with the law, adding he attaches great importance to the relationship between the administration and the legislature.
