The Government will lobby until the last minute for pan-democratic legislators’ support of the political reform package, Chief Secretary Carrie Lam says.
Speaking to the media in Fujian today, Mrs Lam noted the 27 pan-democratic lawmakers have stated repeatedly they will not support any reform proposal based on National People's Congress Standing Committee decisions, so the chance of getting the reform package passed by a two-thirds majority of the Legislative Council appear slim.
However, she said the Government will not give up and will grasp every opportunity to communicate with the pan-democratic camp, adding it will be happy to follow up their request to meet Central Government officials.
She reiterated the Government has no plan to impose national security laws in Hong Kong.
