It is not the right time to have another dialogue with the students on constitutional reform, Secretary for Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Raymond Tam said today.
He told reporters that a dialogue at this time may encourage society to use illegal means to force the Government into making concessions.
Noting that most Hong Kong people are hoping for an end to the occupation movement, he urged the students to stop their hunger strike and the protesters to retreat from occupied areas.
The Government will soon launch the second round of public consultation on political reform, during which all people are welcome to express their views, he added.
